For a long time, the Dominican Republic has been one of the nicest place in the Caribbean to go have a wedding destination. Actually, the first time I heard of the term "wedding destination" was about 11 years ago. Digital photography wasn't even a thing for wedding photographers.
It was a term mostly used in the hotels that are in the north east part of the island, Punta Cana. At that time I only did weddings in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. So, logically, it took a while to get to me.
But things changes and suddenly I was shooting great beautiful weddings on these amazing and breath taking places! The hotel industry had a boom in Bavaro, Cap Cana, Punta Cana, Samana and La Romana (Casa de Campo). Beach weddings were in and still are!
Beach weddings are the main "attraction" for many hotels and resorts in the Punta Cana aerea. Strong colors of the Dominican sunsets do really make for some extraordinary imagery for the photographers.
Nowadays, destination weddings in the Dominican Republic are a great part of my work (please see "Destinations Weddings" in my page).
